We started a company (Acton, Inc.) a while back to make motorized skates, which we still make, and we're now introducing a new product. It's a really cool three wheeled scooter that folds into a handkerchief and can fit in your pocket... except for the handkerchief and pocket part. Here you can see the retractable seat:
And when folded, it looks like this:
And since I'm a bit of a car guy, I insisted on details like this:
Please let everyone you know that this is going on right now and they can get their own scooter at a steep Kickstarter discount right here: !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
Also, in the interest of keeping things Safe at Work:
There are better pix of the one on the left on our !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ;)
Let me know if you have any questions! Specs are as follows:
Frame: Aluminum alloy
Max rider weight: 300lbs
Max speed: 12 miles/hour
Range per charge: 15 miles
Batteries: Rechargeable Lithium Ion Polymer
Charge time: 2 hours fast charger; 4 hours normal charger
M Scooter weight: under 70 lbs
Folded: 38.3" L x 20.5" W x 30.9" H
Expanded: 40.3" L x 25.8" W x 43.7" H
Wish me luck!
Thanks,
Peter

Best kickstarter to try and promote on Oppo would probably be a buy gawker and get rid of kinja kickstarter.

yeah- I could go for that one.

The combined total wealth of every Gawker commenter probably couldn't best Denton's fortune. But don't let that stop you from tilting at windmills.

So is this just a toy for adults? Or is there some sort of unspoken "ride this from your urban apartment to your urban job" idea underpinning this?
If the latter, I'm having a hard time seeing the practicality of its size and weight.

That guy is rich? WTF?

Also, company website? Half a dozen variations on Acton couldn't find you on Google.

More the latter- check out the video to get the full picture. It is really easy to get on an elevator and in the urban setting, there are ramps everywhere. We needed it to weigh a certain amount for stability and rigidity. It still weighs much less than the "Balancing" scooter and when you stop, you don't have to lean it up against anything.

ACTONglobal.com It's global;)
We are driving all our traffic to Kickstarter for the next month so I avoided the link.

The generic display ads that ruled the internet for the last 15 years or so are dead. He's been ahead of the curve for several years now, and now has the cash and cachet to be able to redefine the way advertisers reach their audience.
Disclosure: I don't and have never worked for him, but I have unbelievable admiration for his success.

There are ramps everywhere? Not really so in Boston! Yeah, it sucks haha.
But good luck!

Important questions:
Can we get a faster top speed?
Will it hoon?
![]() 10/30/2013 at 12:49 |

I hoon it regularly. It is especially fun on slick surfaces. The top speed is limited by regulations in the US. It's pretty quick though!

the pre-production prototypes go about 15mph.
